My original post you can find here, but this is my updated version, and frankly they taste even better.
The sauce stays the same, but the spice rub will blow…your…mind. Ok, that’s a bit of an exaggeration but you get the idea, it’s friggin epic!!!!
Tip: For an extra kick prepare the wings the night before so the spices really penetrate the meat.
Serves: 2 as main meal, or 4-6 as a starter
Prep: 15 mins
Cooking Time: 50 mins
Ingredients
Chicken wings
1 tsp paprika
1tsp sweet smoked paprika
1 tsp cayenne pepper
1tsp chilli powder
1/4tsp mustard powder
1/2 tsp cumin
Pinch of salt and pepper
4 tbsp bbq sauce (this can any variety)
2 tbsp tomato ketchup
1 tbsp honey
1 tbsp Siracha
Method
Pre-heat your oven to 190ºc.
Spray your baking tray with oil. I use a 1 calorie spray.
Chop the tips off the wings and discard. In a bowl mix together the spices and the salt and pepper, and massage into the wings.
When ready to cook, lay them on the tray skin side up. Make sure they aren’t too cramped on the tray, you may need a couple depending on how many wings you cook.
Put them into the oven for 40 minutes, turning half way through.
Whilst the wings are in the oven prepare your sauce. Add the bbq sauce, tomato ketchup, honey and siracha to a bowl and mix well. After the 40 minutes are up, cover the wings on both sides in the sauce, turn your oven up to 210ºc and pop them back in the oven for 10 minutes so they become sticky and charred.
Then, put on a bib as you’re about to get messy…
