Hi Everyone,
So, Monday was my 27th Birthday, and I’ve been thinking about things which I have learnt in my twenties. Your twenties is the time in which you step out on your own and learn about yourself.
I feel like I have changed so much over the past few years. All for the better. I’m not the same person I was ten years… thank God, she was selfish and self involved. I found this quote recently and this really sums up how I feel:
“Look around you. Everything changes. Everything on this earth is in a continuous state of evolving, refining, improving, adapting, enhancing…changing. You were not put on this earth to remain stagnant.”
― Steve Maraboli, Life, the Truth, and Being Free
It always frustrates me when people say ‘you’ve changed’ as if it’s an insult. Of course I’ve changed, everyone does. Whether it’s liking different music to ten years ago, or trying new foods or meeting new people who influence your life. As you grow your tastes change, they evolve and adapt.
In my twenties I’ve married the love of my life, bought a house together and renovated it, earned a degree, and traveled to some amazing countries. Those experiences have taught me many lessons, such as how to make a relationship work, compromise, types of flowers for a bouquet, how to gloss a skirting board, how to cook, how to say no, planning a wedding, how to apply make up, looking after my skin… the list can go on and on.
I just hope the remainder of my twenties are just as enlightening…
