Middle Eastern Inspired Mojito

Some of you may remember that last month we did a come dine with me evening, and we had to create an alcoholic drink from Morocco. This became quite tricky, as sure most of you are aware, Morocco is a Muslim country, so most of the population don’t drink. So, we had to come up with an alternative, as my husband used to work in a cocktail bar, I put him to work. After lots of trials, we came up with the idea of using tea in a drink, as Moroccans drink lot of mint tea. And so the mo-tea-to was born.

Ingredients

  • 1 mint tea bag
  • 15ml sugar syrup
  • 12 mint leaves
  • Juice of 1/2 lime
  • 50ml rum
  • soda water to fill glass

Method

Add 1 cup of ice to a cocktail shaker, along with the rest of the ingredients minus the soda water, and shake well for 10 seconds. Strain through a sieve into a glass with ice, top up with soda water, and garnish with a sprig of mint and a lime wedge.
