How I Combat My Oily Skin

So, during the winter months I have very dry skin, and in the summer I have very oily skin. Its a pain, combination skin products don’t work, as they don’t help either problem. On top of that I have sensitive skin. I know… real first world problems!

I have done a previous post about my clarisonic brush and how this helped my skin. But I wanted to tell you about the products which I also use in conjunction with it which help.

I start every morning by cleansing my face with the Kiehl’s Blue Herbal Gel Cleanser with my Clarisonic. This product is great to start the day with it, it’s so refreshing. With its menthol essence its wakes up my senses. I splash some water on my face, and then put a few drops of the cleanser onto the brush head and work it into my skin very gently. This is great as it doesn’t dry my skin out and gently buffs into my pores to remove any dirt.

I wipe my face and dry it gently. I then moisturise. I am always on the look out for new moisturisers, in the winter I use the Clinique Moisture Surge, but I find this makes my skin oily in the summer, so recently I have been using La Roche-Posay Effaclar Mat moisturiser, which is anti-shine and anti-enlarged pores. This is a very light texture and soaks into the skin very quickly so is great under make-up.

During the day when my skin is looking oily  I use blotting papers, these are found easily in high street shops, but the one I use is by NYX, you dab it over your face, which removes the oil put doesn’t take away your make-up. I keep these in my hand bag to use when i’m out and about.

Twice a week I like to use a face mask, I find these help clear my skin. The one I’ve been using over the last couple of weeks is by Quick Fix facials – anti blemish mask for oily and spot prone skin. They do a few different types and at very affordable prices.

Before bed I remove my make up, cleanse my face again, and then I use The Body Shop Seaweed oil-control overnight gel. I find gel’s are much better for before bed, as I found thick moisturisers would just sit on my skin and become greasy.
