Spaghetti With Simple Tomato And Basil Sauce

I tried this recipe for the first time last night, and it was a hit. We had this this with chicken milanese, however I think it would be a great simple dinner on it’s own.

Ingredients

  • 3 cloves of garlic
  • Bunch of basil
  • Chilli
  • Tin plum tomatoes
  • Salt and Pepper
  • Spaghetti

Method

Begin by removing the leaves of the basil, and placing to one side. Chop the basil stalks along with the garlic and chilli, and add to a medium sized saucepan with a splash of olive oil, set the heat to medium, and allow to soften for 3 minutes.

Then add the plum tomatoes and squash them with the back of a spoon. Fill the tin with water and add this to the sauce. Add some salt and pepper to season and cook for 30 minutes, or until it has reduced and thickened.

Cook your spaghetti according to pack instructions in salted boiling water. Once cook drain the water and add the spaghetti to the sauce adding the basil leaves and stir well.

I like to serve this with some Parmesan on top!
